Saturday Double Workshop:

1) The Meaning of Mindfulness
why there's more to it than just living in the present moment

Mindfulness is in fashion. It’s a great way to savor the present moment and enjoy life to the full. That’s a good thing, but it barely touches on the extraordinary potential of the mindful lifestyle. As taught by the Buddha, mindfulness is just one component of an awakened life. When paired with critical reflection it integrates not just body and mind but also insight and focus, creating an effective gap between stimulus and response, leading you away from automaticity towards intuition and creativity.

2) Dealing with Anxiety
turning apprehension, fear & guilt into a path of personal freedom

Dealing with your fears by pushing them into subconscious depths only makes them even more visceral and unmanageable. That's when you no longer need a real threat to trigger anxiety, fear or guilt; the mere hint of it is enough. In this workshop we'll look at the basic insecurities that we bring into this world and examine the ways in which they take on a life of their own. We'll see that although the imaginings of the undisciplined mind seem beyond control, we can cultivate realistic attitudes that bring us not only strength, but also direction — and with it a taming of the mind.
